New Year, New You

Every New Year is a good time to reassess. What you’re doing wrong, what you’re doing right. What you want to do better. Every New Year I spend ages reflecting on what I have achieved and what I hadn’t really managed, despite my best intentions.

This year’s been a big year for us. I returned to the work force after 4 years off. We hired our first nanny…our Hot Nanny whom many of you will remember. We started a child at school. We reassessed our family life and made changes to ensure we have more family time going forward and we undertook a major renovation.

And of course, how can we forget…Nat & I started If Only They’d Told Me and got to know you guys.

Thanks to Tim Warren for the fab photo of us doing our Hula Hoop thing!

This year, my resolutions are much the same as always…to be a better Mother, a better wife, a better daughter, a better friend. To practice patience. To give hugs, to dream big, be good and be kind. To finish and publish our book, If Only They’d Told Me…not far to go..watch this space…To find a better work-life-balance, to get my pre-baby body back (or as near to it as is possible after having 2 children), to get fit, take part in a running race. To take better care of myself – spend time on myself, take time out for me, eat healthier, try not to say yes to everyone. To just BE. (this is something I struggle with. I need to be present more). To shout less, laugh more. To stop spending so much time cleaning and straightening up the house, but spend more time reading stories and playing games with the children. To have regular date nights with Hubbie and twice a year to escape with him and spend a night – a WHOLE night with him.

My list is long. But not impossible. I am excited about 2013.

What are your resolutions?

My ‘over arching’ resolution is more of a ‘theme’ or focus. It’s ‘have more fun, be more fun’. Meaning, don’t sweat the small stuff, give hubby that fun and fab person that he remembers, give the kids the undivided attention that they deserve, live in the moment and worry about the dirty dishes later…

woo hoo for a new book! Look forward to seeing that :)

I’ve gone for intentions this year… things that I feel will help me achieve my bigger purpose and vision for the year and beyond. These include: Sugar-Free Monday (I had success yesterday), Write a Letter Tuesday, Meditate Wednesday, Computer-Free Sunday…
