I went to a ‘Blog Camp’ recently here in Auckland, New Zealand and the sponsor was ‘Little Bellies’. So I came home with a few boxes full of Mini Gingerbread Men to see whether the kids’ gave them the thumbs up or down.
What are they?
Little BelliesTM Mini Gingerbread Men are organic biscuits for children, 12 + months. “Made with the goodness of wholegrains and sweetened only with grape juice, there are no added preservatives and no artificial colours or flavours. Our mini gingerbread men are the perfect bite size treat.
It’s also pretty cool to learn the ‘story’ behind the business. Two dads (who are brothers) started the business because of their desire to ”feed our families nothing but the best quality food free from artificial additives, herbicides, pesticides, chemicals and genetically modified ingredients”. They’ve got seven kids between them so they “know how hard it is to find healthy foods that will satisfy fussy eaters, and how easy it is to be misled by ambiguous marketing claims when many so-called ‘healthy’ snacks are anything but healthy”.
What the Kids say:
Whenever we do a product review, we like to trial the product with a few people from the target audience. Well I tell you, this product really his the spot this time. Not only did the toddlers love it but so did the pre-schoolers and school age kids. Ok, so who doesn’t love the cute shape and look of a gingerbread man? But not all gingerbread is yummy right? These biscuits are.
What the Parents Say:
This product is a pleaser with the parents too, thanks to the combo of wholegrains, organic ingredient and grape juice rather than sugar for a touch of sweetness. I just need to find out how much they cost…
We also got some comments from our fans on our facebook page: Casey McPike said: “Love these! Always have them in my bag – they’re the perfect toddler treat”. Stephanie O’Brien said: “My boy loves them!” and Kym Moore said: “Yup, miss 15 months love them”.
Our Rating: 4/5 Stars
Little Bellies are brilliant! I like the fact that even though they are aimed at kids age 12 + months, my 2 year old, 4 year old and 6 year old allloved them!
Where you can buy them:
Here’s where you can buy them. They’re made in Australia but are available in Woolworths stores in NZ. So now I’m excited to try some of their other products like the mini bars and savoury sticks!
