5 Tips for Banishing the Belly Fat

I went away on a Business Retreat recently (yay my first time away for more than 48 hours in 8 years!) and what did we take with us to keep us alert & fit in-between our brainstorming sessions?  A few Powerhoops of course!  I’m not a huge exerciser (other than pushing the stroller back & forth to school every day), mainly because of time.  So I was keen to give the Powerhoop a go and see what all the hype was about!  In this blog & video, CEO of Powerhoop NZ and Mum of 3 Amy McAuley talks about how she keeps fit (and helps others to do the same).  Her secret… the Powerhoop!  Yep, apparently it’s the next Zumba as people are drawn to the fact that they can do classes with a group of people or can do it at home with impressive results.

1.  Exercise

Exercise is really important for burning fat and building up muscle all over the body. As well as concentrating on the abs, please also incorporate some cardio vascular exercise. You should be aiming for min 30 minutes per day of increasing your heart rate, this could be in the form of a walk, run, swim, cycle, exercise class. Powerhooping is incredible for trimming belly fat, results of regular use are trimming of the waist, flattening the tummy, strengthening the back and slimming the hips. Scientific studies have proven that Powerhooping reduces bellyfat.

2. Diet

You can do ab exercises until the cows come home but if you are not eating healthy foods then you wonʼt be getting good results. Eat less and more often regularly throughout the day and think lean protein and veggies and not greasy burgers and fries.

3.  Sleep

Good sleep is necessary for optimal health and can affect hormone levels, mood and weight. Aim for between 6 to 8 hours per night. Sleep can make a huge difference in weight management.

Stress can be a factor in over eating and making wrong food choices. If you are feeling stressed why not try to write out your feelings and start a journal. Or talk to someone, let if off your chest, a friend, a counsellor, a relative. Try to do something you enjoy every day. Start up a new hobby perhaps.

5.  Water

We should substitute any fizzy drinks for water. It will flush out our system and give us more energy. As well as reducing our calorie intake. Fizzy drinks can lead to terrible bloating as well. Water, water, water all the way!
